EQUIPMENT
Usual via ferrata equipment. In case of snow, bring suitable equipment.
ACCESS
From Cortina by car towards Passo Tre Croci. From Rio Gere by chairlift to Son Forca.
DIFFICULTY DESCRIPTION
The via ferrata trek is not technically difficult, but it is long, phisically demanding, on high altitude and constantly exposed to the south. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE DIFFICULTY.
ASCENT DESCRIPTION
Due to the closure of the lift to Son Forca back in 2016, now you need to walk the long scree of Staunies (700 meters) up to rifugio Lorenzi (closed). From here the original trak quickly gains level starting the via ferrata. The suspended bridge is close.
DESCENT DESCRPTION
The descent is often along a crest, with ledges and forks. Starting the descent of forcella Alta, it is possible at a certain point to make a left towards Son Forca to reach Rio Gere again, or continue along the original trek to ristorante Ospitale.
NOTE
Along the way there are many remains of the First World War. The views are really stunning. Always check the weather forecast before starting the day and leave early.
The fee includes: guide service, technical equipment. Transport is available on request, subject to availability. Lift ticket not included in the fee.
