Dolomites – Lagazuoi
Sass de Stria
TOTAL TRAVEL TIME
1 hr via ferrata; 2hrs approach and return.
From June to October (be aware of early or late snowfalls).
Usual via ferrata equipment. A flashlight is required for the tunnel. In the presence of snow, provide appropriate equipment.
From the Tre Sassi Fort, briefly follow the path that leads to the Goiginger tunnel. After the tunnel, follow the path on the south-west slope until you reach the beginning of the via ferrata.
The itinerary proves immediately interesting, tracing the traces of the hero of the First Great War Second Lieutenant Fusetti. It is not a difficult itinerary and it is absolutely recommended to climb up to the summit of Sass de Stria after exiting the ferrata.
The via ferrata is of recent construction (autumn 2018) and is perfectly insured. After the first part of approaching practically without gradient, the wall faces in about an hour of exciting climb.
After the obligatory visit to the summit, we begin the descent into the system of trenches located on the west side of Sass de Stria, then returning to the car park near the Tre Sassi fort.
Don’t forget the torch for the passage in the Goiginger gallery.
