Renè De Pol
The 500 meters of fixed ropes and the strokes with iron pegs allow to overcome lobbies and detrital terraces to touch the Austrian posts of the First World War. From the Green Fork, you can also reach the large Cristallo Mount’s fork and from here, with the easiest Ivano Dibona Trail, continue to Forcella Staunies and the Rif. Guido Lorenzi.
ACCESS
Follow the former seat of the railway line, for trail 208. Crossing a wooden bridge there is an indication for the Via Ferrata. Continue up the steep path that crosses the forest to the edge of the rocks. In correspondence of an isolated sapling the path bends to the left (east) and crossroad arriving at 3 caves (three holes). Then for scree uphill to the great cavern and from here to the left, always by path, to the attack.
DIFFICULTY DESCRIPTION
The overall commitment, requires a good level of training.
ASCENT DESCRIPTION
When the “Black Wall” is reached with the first fixed ropes, it is bordered on the right to go up to a first slope. “Low Cengia”. It continues, for ramps and a vertical duct with jammed boulder (equipped with iron spikes), up to a second ledge. For a steep path you reach a canyon that goes up, first on the left then passing on the bottom, to arrive at a fork on the ridge that, to the west, climbs to the wide top of the west tip of the Forame Mount (2385m). Following the path that crosses the grassy slopes you descend to the Southeast, you cross the rocks at the base of the Forame top and then climb up to the crest and the top of Forame de Fora. You descend by the crest path to the Yellow Fork (2400m) and then cross, for ridge and gravel, to the Green fork (from here possible variation for the great Fork of the Cristallo Mount and with the Dibona path to Staunies and the Rif. Guido Lorenzi).
DESCENT DESCRIPTION
From the Green Fork you go down along a scree: warning: do not get to the bottom of the screed (Rock jumps!), you have to stop at 2/3 of the descent (sign with the deviation). Follow the marked path for the gully Pra del Vecio until crossing the path of the ascent, following it until the parking lot of Cimabanche.
